Pentax KF

Pentax KF was announced in 2022 and is an APS-C (23.5 x 15.6 mm) DSLR camera with 24.24 Megapixel CMOS sensor. Its native ISO ranges from 100 to 102,400. The camera has a Fully Articulated 3.0" screen with 1,037k dot resolution and built-in Optical (pentaprism) viewfinder. It has a built-in Sensor Shift in body image stabilization.

Pentax KF can capture video up to 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Fully Articulated screen

Optical (pentaprism) Viewfinder

Camera is equipped with PRIME MII processor and can take pictures up to 6000 x 4000 resolution. It can also take pictures with lower resolutions like 4608 x 3072, 3072 x 2048, 1920 x 1280 with 3:2 aspect ratios.

Lens Mount

Pentax KF has Pentax K_AF2 lens mount. Due to APS-C sensor its crop factor (also called lens multiplier) is 1.5x. This means that a 35mm equivalent focal length of the mounted lens will be equal to its actual focal length times 1.5.

No Low-Pass Filter

There is no optical low-pass filter (OLPF), also known as an anti-aliasing filter, in front of the sensor. This results in a slightly sharper image but may also introduce moiré patterns and aliasing artifacts when photographing subjects with fine, repetitive patterns or details.

In-Body Image Stabilization

The camera has a built-in Sensor Shift in-body image stabilization (IBIS) with 4.5 stops of compensation. This means that you are still getting vibration reduction when camera is paired with non-image stabilizied lenses. It also works with lenses with optical image stabilization and in combination can achieve even better compensation.

Built-in Wi-Fi

Camera has a built-in Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n, 2.4 GHz) which allows to easily transfer photos and videos from the camera to other Wi-Fi-enabled devices, such as smartphones, tablets, printers, or computers. This eliminates the need for cables and allows for quick and convenient media sharing and social media integration. It gives you the ability to control your camera remotely using a smartphone or tablet. This is particularly useful for taking self-portraits, group shots, or capturing images in challenging conditions without having to touch the camera. Firmware updates can also be downloaded and installed wirelessly.

USB Input and HDMI Output

Pentax KF has a USB 2.0 (480 Mbit/sec) input for data transfer. There is a Mini HDMI connector for video signal output.

Pentax KF comes with D-LI109 battery pack with battery life of 410 shots.

The camera has a single SD/SDHC/SDXC (UHS-I) card slot.

Shutter

Pentax KF has Electronic shutter. Shutter speed can go up to 1/6000 sec. Camera can shoot continuously up to 6.0 fps.

Focusing

Pentax KF has 11 (9 cross-type) focusing points and from -3 to +18 EV detection range There is also face detection feature which automatically finds and focuses on faces.

Exposure

Camera's exposure metering ranges from 0 to +22 EV and you can set the exposure compensation within the ±5 EV range. You can also do exposure lock, exposure bracketing and manual exposure adjustment.

Flash

Pentax KF has a built-in flash with maximum range of 12.00 m at ISO 100 and also accepts external flash which can be connected via Hot Shoe or Wireless connection. The fastest flash synchronization speed is 1/180 sec. Flash compensation can be set from -2 to +1 EV.

Pentax KF has dimensions of 126 x 93 x 74 mm (4.94 x 3.66 x 2.91"). It weighs 688 g (1.52 lb / 24.27 oz) which is neither heavy nor lightweight.
